G Balasowmya
Balasowmya is a 17-year-old resident of Tukaramgate, Lalaguda, Hyderabad, Telangana. She is pursuing 12th grade in a private college at Secunderabad, and she is good at her studies. Her father, G Sai Tilak, was a previously treated case. He previously worked at a courier service company, and now he is unable to do any work because of leprosy reactions and complications. He had treatment for leprosy when he was 13 years old. He came to Nallakunta Referral Centre in Hyderabad with reactions and left ulnar claw in 2010. He is very depressed (psychologically depressed) and unable to do any work and lead the family. Since then, he has been suffering from complications many times. He underwent surgery for left ulnar claw correction. His wife is the only earning member in the family by working as a medical company’s daily wager. The family is unable to pay the school fee for their children.
When he came to Nallakunta Referral Centre for treatment follow-ups, the project staff explained the CHAHA education support. He requested us to provide support for his daughter to continue her studies. The project staff conducted a need assessment and provided support. From 9th grade to now (12th grade), she is getting the CHAHA education support. Now she is very happy and doing well.
